Upon hearing his stepmother, Betchay (Irma Adlawan), speak outside his bedroom and ask whom he might be talking to, Gabo (Coco Martin) panics and pushes Sam (Julia Montes) onto the bed. He pulls a blanket over them to hide them and tells her not to speak for fear that Betchay might hear her.
Fortunately, his father, Rudy (Joey Marquez), arrives just in time to stop Betchay from taking a peek into his bedroom. He sweet-talks her by expressing how much he worries about her working at the beerhouse owned by Paquito (Rez Cortez), as Rudy is aware of how cunning Paquito is and how much he used to like Betchay when they were younger. This makes Betchay kilig, as she assumes that Rudy still deeply cares for her, especially when he reminds her to take extra care since he knows that he can't stop her anymore.
Little does Betchay know that Rudy is not genuinely sincere in everything he tells her, as he only does so to distract her and save Gabo and Sam from her imminent wrath once she catches them.
As Sam worries that Betchay might enter his room, Gabo assures her it's unlikely to happen since Betchay is mad at him. This confuses Sam about why they still need to hide, prompting Gabo to make an excuse, saying that he is afraid Betchay might actually come into his room. Thus, Sam cannot help but think that he is already taking advantage of her, prompting Gabo to remind her that they are already a couple.
Gabo then asks Sam for a hug as he reiterates how scared he is, but Rudy suddenly enters the room to inform them that Betchay has already left, leaving all of them shocked when he catches them still under the sheets. As Rudy apologizes for disturbing them, Gabo explains that they were only hiding from Betchay. Gabo then excuses himself to begin the repairs on their roof, with Rudy following him afterward.
Left alone, Sam tells herself, “Mukha naman silang mababait. Pero hindi pa rin ako dapat magtiwala. Mga kriminal ang mga taong ito. Magagaling magpanggap. Kung akala nila napapaikot nila ako, ang hindi nila alam, sila ang pinapaikot ko. Hindi naman ako magtatagal dito. Malalaman at malalaman ko rin ang kaugnayan nila kay Mr. Chan (Mike Castillo) at sa mga Zafra.”
