As she resented Gabo for her miscarriage, Betchay (Jennica Garcia) seemingly punished the young Gabo (Gian Luca Geroue) by urging him to scavenge through waste for anything he could sell to make money. In his pursuit of pleasing his Nanay Betchay and regaining her love, Gabo obeyed her, eventually meeting Django (Ferdinand Caesar Belaro) and instantly becoming part of his gang.
Gabo continued working with Django (Jhong Hilario) as they grew older, stealing packages from cargo trucks passing through Manila and selling them afterwards for a hefty sum. Django gave Gabo a cut of their earnings from their every operation, which Gabo eventually handed over to Betchay (Irma Adlawan). Despite his efforts, however, she remained hostile toward Gabo, telling him that she would never forget what happened or forgive him about it—something that deeply broke Gabo’s heart.
Listening to his story, Sam (Julia Montes) was reminded of her own situation, as her father, PMGen Ricardo Jacinto (Edu Manzano), also blames her for the untimely death of her brother, RJ (Alex Castro). He believes that RJ’s death could have been avoided if only Sam had been obedient to him.
