As she arrived home from her hangout with her fellow NCIA agents, Sam (Julia Montes) was surprised to see many people at their house, who were actually guests of her father, Ricardo (Edu Manzano). Even though she already knew that he would be furious at her, Sam still mustered the courage to inform him about her suspension.
Just as Ricardo assumed that she heeded his advice for her to drop the Zafra case and keep her hands off it, she disclosed that she had instead attempted to close it immediately by forcing their potential witness, Mr. Chan (Mike Castillo), to confess everything he knew about the gold-smuggling syndicate led by Victor "Tigre" Zafra (JM de Guzman). However, what was supposed to be a simple interrogation eventually turned hostile after Sam lost her patience at him and punched him in the face, prompting the NCIA administration to impose disciplinary action against her.
Enraged by what he had just heard, Ricardo instantly lost his composure and lashed out at Sam. He berated her for being so hard-headed and threw harsh words at her, leaving her shaken and teary-eyed. Sam's colleague and longtime suitor, Agent Seb (JC de Vera), who had accompanied her home after she became tipsy, immediately stepped in to defend her, insisting that she was actually one of NCIA's best agents.
Instead of easing the tension, Seb's attempt to become a knight in shining armor, however, only fueled Ricardo's anger, as he interpreted it as Sam enlisting someone to back her up. He called her a disgrace to their family, especially to him, as she tarnished the reputation he had spent years safeguarding and the legacy he had built as a former NLEA general.
As Ricardo walked out and proceeded to his office, Sam followed him to beg for his forgiveness. But her pleas fell on deaf ears as her father was too hurt—not only by her actions but also by his belief that her reckless behavior would inevitably damage the reputation and legacy he had worked so hard to build. Their confrontation became even more emotional when Ricardo brought up the untimely demise of her brother RJ (Alex Castro), which he continued to blame on her.
Fighting back tears, Sam told Ricardo that, among all of them, she was the one who had been hurting and grieving the most. She confessed that she had been consumed by guilt every day of her life over what happened to her brother and admitted that she still prayed that he might one day find it in his heart to forgive her.
However, Ricardo sternly told her that it would never happen because, sometimes, he actually wishes that was her who was gone instead. This absolutely broke the heart of Sam and prompted her to quickly walk away as tears welled up her eyes.
