True to his promise to protect Sam (Julia Montes) from anyone who may be after her, Gabo (Coco Martin) doesn't hesitate to step out of their house and confront the group of suspicious men lurking outside.
He bravely calls them out and sternly warns them that, in Ginintuang Lupa, strangers like them don't usually make it out alive. When he asks why they are there, one of the men responds by pointing a gun at Gabo and confirming that they are indeed outsiders. Provoked, Gabo alerts their neighbors about the strangers, prompting them to emerge from their respective homes, each armed with whatever weapon they can find.
Seeing the number of residents surrounding them, and hearing Gabo reiterate his warning that they won't make it out alive if they choose to be defiant and fight back, the goons finally back down and admit that they are looking for someone. However, before they can receive any response, the men decide to retreat and leave.
When one of the neighbors asks Gabo whether he knows who the outsiders are searching for, he lies and claims that they are supposedly after a snatcher. His Aunt Mameng then tells him off for confronting the goons, but Gabo angrily explains that he only wanted to make it clear that outsiders cannot simply infiltrate their community, as well as show them that the residents of Ginintuang Lupa are not to be messed with.
Gabo then returns to his bedroom to check on Sam once again. As he watches her sleep, he reassures her, “Huwag kang mag-alala, hindi ka nila makukuha dahil nandito ako para protektahan ka. Itataya ko ang buhay ko para sa’yo. Kung sino man ang nagtatangka sa buhay mo, ipinapangako ko, hindi sila magtatagumpay.”
