Do these familiar faces ring a bell? They were once beloved child stars who graced our TV screens, and now they’re excelling in their respective fields. Pambansang Host Luis Manzano and Ka-Rambol Negi were joined by former child actors Vandolph Quizon, Niño Muhlach, Ice Seguerra, Michael Roy Jornales, and RR Herrera for another fun episode of “Rainbow Rumble” last February 14!
The episode didn’t just bring back nostalgia---it also gave us a fresh perspective on where they are now and how well they can showcase their wit and charm as game show contestants. It was an intense battle among the five, especially with Ice and Vandolph’s “Atras Powers” used against the other players. Banter flew back and forth anong them, and in the end, it was Michael Roy who successfully advanced to the jackpot round.
Those who unfortunately did not win against Michael Roy were still happy to have at least experienced playing in “Rainbow Rumble.” Ice Seguerra admitted that he was glad not to have won, as even the “Rally to the Top” round was already ‘stressful’ for him. “Parang ‘di ko na kayang dagdagan pa siya. Ang goal ko lang honestly kanina, hindi ako maiwan sa huli.”
At the start of the game, Ice was the last one to move forward and held the final spot. But he eventually managed to advance and take the same level as Michael Roy. “I’m very happy and content with what I got. Happy ako,” he said.
Niño Muhlach simply accepted his fate in the game, while Vandolph said that however the game concluded was perfectly fine with him. “Sobrang enjoy, I got to see Luis [Manzano] and all my fellow child stars. Masaya pati lahat ng staff and cameramen,” he said, calling the experience “surreal.”
RR Herrera, on the other hand, expressed his regret at not being able to clinch the top spot despite being the first to almost reach the end of the game. He stated, “Siguro ‘yun na rin ‘yung learning ko, na ‘wag masyadong mabilis kasi meron pa silang Atras Powers.”
It’s no doubt that once you’re already in the game of “Rainbow Rumble,” things surely get tough as the rounds progress. When asked which part of the game they found difficult, Ice reflected on his double effort to swipe the sensor, while Niño quickly responded that he simply enjoyed the game.
As for Vandolph, while the questions were easy to answer, it was the ability to respond quickly that was hard to maintain. Meanwhile, RR felt the challenge his co-contestants brought while playing, “Ang hirap kasi tinatapos ko talaga yung question… so nauunahan talaga ako. Doon lang ako sa steal talaga nakakadali,” he said.
Despite the challenges, our Rumblers had interesting takeaways to share after their “Rainbow Rumble” experience. Ice leaned more toward prioritizing his peace of mind over any stress while playing. Niño focused on the bright side of the experience, “Masaya na nakapag-bonding kami, mga child stars, sina Luis at Negi,” he said.
“Patience” was what Vandolph learned, “’Wag nagmamadali dahil kahit alam mo ang sagot, ‘yun pala mali ‘pag hindi pa tapos ang tanong. Pakinggan mabuti ‘yung mga tanong.” Meanwhile, RR said that the perfect strategy to move forward in the end is to wait until all the “Atras Powers” are gone, “Para hindi ka tirahin.”
Michael Roy Jornales, who won the “Rally to the Top” round, also candidly shared his “Rainbow Rumble” reflections. “Ang natutunan ko dito, kailangan kong pag-aralan pa lalo ‘yung kulay,” he admitted. When asked how he prepared for the game, Michael Roy said he relied on the power of prayers.
“Nag-pray lang ako na [sana] magawa ko ‘to kasi wala akong alam sa colors talaga, tapos color game pala siya,” he said. He added that despite everything, the experience was exciting. He even joked that it wasn’t only the eviction night in “Pinoy Big Brother” that made him nervous because of his son, Heath Jornales, being one of the housemates, but also joining “Rainbow Rumble.”
