Attraction can happen in an instant, but finding someone who feels the same way is even more exciting. Because if you're really lucky, you might just discover that the person giving you butterflies feels them, too.
For three seasons, queer dating show "Sparks Camp" has given its campers a space to explore that possibility. Between getting to know each other and going through fun challenges, we've witnessed magical moments when budding attractions blossomed into mutual sparks.
Ahead, we're looking back at all the “Sparks Camp” pairs who got that sweet confirmation that the feeling was, indeed, mutual—and finding out what happened to their connections after they left the camp.
In Season 1, we didn't see Karl Bau and Nick Deocampo's mutual spark coming as they both had explored their closeness with other campers throughout their stay. And they only got the chance to spend more time talking toward the end of the season. Karl and Nick went on dates after the show and tried to see where their connection could take them. Unfortunately, distance eventually got in the way, with Karl staying in Manila and Nick spending most of his time in Cebu.
If Karl and Nick were Season 1's surprise, Alex De Ungria and Justin Macapallag gave us a second-chance story to root for. The camp opened the door for them to rekindle their romantic past. Alex and Justin chose each other in the end, but their mutual spark was just the beginning.
After the show, they began dating exclusively and their relationship is still going strong. Just last July, the couple shared sweet photos together on social media, with Justin writing in the caption, "Sa tinagal ng panahon at sa madaming beses na mahirap piliin ang isa't isa, nakarating pa rin tayo dito."
Season 2 gave us two 'mutual sparks' as well—Martin Chua and Zuher Nakaoka, and Allan Pangilinan and Kyle Adlawan.
To say Martin and Zuher had a complicated journey toward their mutual spark would probably be an understatement, considering they were caught in tangled situations and ‘selosan’ moments that made it pretty difficult to guess where either of them would eventually land. But as feelings became clearer, Martin and Zuher found their way to each other and, by the end of the season, decided to take a chance on what they had started. They did explore that possibility after "Sparks Camp," although their mutual spark never transitioned into an official relationship.
Meanwhile, we've known Allan as the NBSB camper with 'imaginary' boyfriends, but somewhere along the way, he developed real romance with Kyle. Interestingly, they weren't each other's first sparks. But as the days went by, Allan and Kyle found comfort and understanding in each other. The pair gave dating a try after the show, but eventually realized that they weren't looking for the same kind of love. Instead of forcing their chemistry into a romance that didn't fit, they chose to remain friends.
If the number of mutual sparks is any indication, love—or at least the possibility of it—was definitely in the air during "Sparks Camp" Season 3, which gave us the most mutual matches yet, with a total of four pairs. But of course, what happened once they returned to the real world was another story.
Sometimes, finding someone who just gets your humor is already half the battle, and Aaron Aberasturi and Harold Espiritu found that in each other, which made their interactions extra fun to watch. Their spark continued burning after their 'camp' journey as they pursued a relationship. However, the romantic chapter came to a close. In 2025, Harold confirmed through a social media post that he and Aaron had parted ways as lovers, but they hoped for the best for each other as friends.
We've also got Khali Empleo and Andrew Rabin, whose attraction was pretty clear from the start. They already chose each other as early as the first spark-giving, and rather than having their attention pulled elsewhere as new connections developed around camp, they remained consistent with their choices all the way to the end. Unfortunately, their love story didn't take flight outside camp. The two tried to make a long-distance setup work, but communication became difficult.
Meanwhile, Ants Pedregosa may have caught the attention of other campers during his stay, but it was his spark with Kim Bejerano that won out. Ants and Kim left camp with mutual feelings and gave their budding romance a real chance, although things weren't exactly smooth sailing once they had to navigate their connection away from the little bubble "Sparks Camp" had created for them. Despite trying to make the romance work, things didn't turn out the way they had hoped.
While some campers needed a little more time to figure out where their feelings were headed, Joer Reyes and Edward Maalihan just knew pretty early on that there was something between them. However, like their fellow Season 3 pairs, the real test came after camp. Their romantic potential also didn't work out, but Joer and Edward chose to remain friends.
As these campers have shown, finding out that someone likes you back is exciting, but it's really only the beginning of figuring out whether that spark can survive beyond the little bubble where it started. Some turned into relationships while others eventually settled into friendships.
Tommy Alejandrino, Ian Lubrica, Taku Morita, Jury Fajardo, Michael Padiernos, Joaquin Espiritu, Gio Lopez, EJ Magistrado, Beej Mordeno, and Howie Johnson for "Sparks Camp" Season 4, each hoping to make connections of their own and, just maybe, find someone who feels that spark right back.
