If "Sparks Camp" Season 1 (2023) delivered sweet, budding connections, "Sparks Camp 2" arrived in 2024 with more drama. The second batch of campers came in louder, prouder, and ready to put their feelings on the table, giving us refreshingly open discussions about topics that are usually kept hush-hush.
Before we meet the newest batch of campers in the upcoming season, let's rewind to all the ‘messy feels' that went down in Season 2.
Just on the pilot episode, the attraction was already pretty hard to miss among campers Ejay Dimayacyac, Pipoy Oreiro, Allan Pangilinan, Martin Chua, Universe Ramos, Miggy Ruallo, Kyle Adlawan, and Zuher Bautista—plus a secret game got personal too fast, revealing everything from dating history to coming-out stories.
The stars had aligned for Universe in Episode 2, as he received five sparks and found a mutual spark with Zuher. Two more campers—Seichi Ozaraga and Paco Laurel—made their surprise entrance during the Welcome Pride Party, where drinks and meaningful conversations helped the campers discover even more reasons to be drawn to one another.
Episode 3 said enough introductions, it's time for ‘selosan’ chaos! The “Don't Let Go” challenge opened the doors to an ‘agawan’ moment, thanks to its mechanics and the campers having to choose their partners. Martin picked Zuher, leaving Universe without the guy he'd just shared a mutual spark with. Allan stepped in as Universe's partner, and because the universe apparently loves plot twists, they ended up winning a date together.
The spark situation only got messier in Episode 4 as deeper bonds left some campers torn over who to choose. Miggy got emotional after receiving zero sparks for the second time, and then opened up about how femme gays like him can sometimes feel overlooked in favor of masculine gays.
Meanwhile, the Universe-Zuher-Allan situation got complicated when Zuher stayed consistent with Universe, Universe chose Allan, but Allan's spark went elsewhere. On the sweeter side, Paco and Ejay found a mutual spark, and later had a deeper heart-to-heart about family and coming out.
By Episode 5, some ships were sailing and some were sinking. Paco and Ejay continued getting closer, while Universe chose Zuher for the “Dare to Get Closer” challenge in hopes of reviving their original spark, though Zuher wasn't thrilled about the reconnection. And Universe, who started the season as an early favorite, seemingly wasn't 'giving' the same energy to some of the campers anymore.
The campers then unpacked painful relationship experiences during their Moment of Truth session. But amid all that emotional baggage, everyone showed up for one another, making us root or the friendships formed inside camp. Even when the romantic sparks weren't working out, some the platonic connections definitely were.
Things got wild in Episode 6 as the campers let loose at their Luau Party that had drinks flowing, kisses happening, and a very flirty Truth or Dare game turning up the heat. In the middle of all that sexy energy, Pipoy brought some sweetness to the night by giving everyone friendship bracelets.
With feelings being confessed and sparks switching directions left and right, Episode 7 showed just how unpredictable genuine attraction can be. Universe won the endurance-testing “Sack It Up” challenge and chose Paco for his date, a decision that left some campers hurt. Surprisingly, the Hot Seat later brought more sweetness than spice, as the campers used the opportunity to make one another feel loved and appreciated.
The finale gave us two mutual sparks—Allan and Kyle, and Zuher and Martin. Of course, choosing each other didn't automatically make them official couples. It simply meant there was something between them worth exploring outside the show.
