“Sparks Camp” traded the beach for the mountains in Season 3, but the cooler setting certainly didn't cool down the heat. And nope, we’re definitely not talking about the weather! Underneath all that heat were some of the most genuine connections we’d seen on the show, with Season 3 producing the most mutual sparks yet.
So, before we meet a new batch of campers, let’s head back to the mountains and relive the moments that made us blush and root hard for these sparks to turn into something more.
Unlike the first two seasons, where campers immediately got to know each other through conversations, the first batch—Aaron Aberasturi, Andrew Rabin, Harold Espiritu, Khali Empleo, Julio Silvestre, and Kim Bejerano—had to size each other up using their senses, all without talking. Because sometimes, you just feel a spark before you can even put it into words, right?
Spark pins were exchanged among the first six, with Harold emerging as an early favorite. The camp got even more interesting with the arrival of Ants Pedregosa, Julian Agustin, Edward Maalihan, and Joer Reyes.
For their first official spark giving, the campers had to do it face-to-face, which was an exercise in finding the courage to reveal what was truly in their hearts. Some of them were already very much on the same page. Julio and Kim chose each other, as did Aaron and Harold, and Khali and Andrew.
Things got a little more intimate in Episode 3 as one pair scored a sexy pool date, which was a perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together and explore their growing spark.
As the campers continued exploring their connections, Aaron and Harold, and Khali and Andrew kept their sparks mutual.
But how long can you actually hold on? Episode 4 put that question to the test with the “Hang With Me” challenge, inspired by those moments in love when we find ourselves wondering whether it's still worth holding on or finally time to let go.
After winning the previous challenge, Edward took Joer on a spa date filled with sexual tension. All campers later opened up about the foolish things they had done for love, from choosing a lover over friends to pretending not to know about a boyfriend's cheating.
The sparks may have been given anonymously in Episode 6, but the campers already knew who was into whom. And rather than make every mutual connection a competition, the campers understood the unspoken code of knowing when to step back once two people had already found a mutual spark.
With booze flowing and Truth or Dare in full swing, the campers then loosened up and let their wilder sides come out in a party filled with flirting and lots of kisses.
The campers competed in the first-ever Mr./Mx. Sparks Camp pageant where they served their best looks on the runway, turned up the heat for the swimwear competition, and flexed their wit in the Q&A segment, with former campers Bong, Alex, and Paco sitting on the judging panel.
Kim eventually snatched the crown, but his more interesting prize came afterward. The winner got to pick a camper for a date, and he chose Ants.
After a journey of taking chances and letting go of the things that weighed heavily on their hearts, the campers had one last act of courage ahead of them—giving their final sparks.
As the challenge slayer, Edward received the Last Temptation Spark or the chance to talk to someone he wanted to pursue a mutual connection with. But Edward was already secure in his spark, so instead of using the advantage for himself, he handed it to Julian, who then confessed to Ants.
Come final spark giving, however, Ants also received a spark from Kim. Faced with a tough decision, Ants followed his heart and gave his final spark to Kim, making theirs a mutual one. Joer and Edward, Harold and Aaron, and Khali and Andrew also chose each other.
Some sparks had only grown brighter, while others had faded into friendship along the way. Of course, choosing each other didn't automatically make them official couples. It simply meant there was something between them worth exploring beyond camp.
The camp is ready to welcome Tommy Alejandrino, Ian Lubrica, Taku Morita, Jury Fajardo, Michael Padiernos, Joaquin Espiritu, Gio Lopez, EJ Magistrado, Beej Mordeno, and Howie Johnson for "Sparks Camp" Season 4.
