Kara David revealed why she eventually decided to stop watching K-dramas, admitting that she became so emotionally invested in one series that it even affected how she interacted with her husband.
In an interview with Dani Barretto on the Bare It All Podcast, Kara recalled becoming deeply engrossed in the series The World of the Married.
"Number one, napupuyat ako. Number two, ito tinigil ko na talaga kasi napanood ko ‘yung The World of the Married. Sabi talaga ng asawa ko, 'Huwag ka nang manonood kasi pati ‘yung marriage natin (affected). Bakit ka nagagalit sa akin?'" she recounted.
Kara admitted that she became particularly affected by the characters and conflicts in the hit Korean drama.
"Invested ako, galit na galit ako dun sa asawa nung doktora... 'yung mga plastik na mga kaibigan," she remarked.
Her experience with the series also led her to skip its Philippine adaptation, The Broken Marriage Vow, which starred Jodi Sta. Maria.
"Kaya sorry kay Jodi Sta. Maria. Hindi ko pinanood 'yung adaptation kasi parang hindi ko na kaya. Nakasalalay dun 'yung marriage namin, ‘yung kasal namin ng asawa ko," she stated.
Kara shared that her husband, who is a seaman, eventually pointed out how her reaction to the drama had begun to cause arguments between them.
"Seaman 'yung asawa ko, sabi niya ‘minsan na nga lang ako makakuha ng signal sa gitna ng karagatan, aawayin mo pa ako para sa isang bagay na hindi ko naman ginawa?’" she said.
Following the experience, Kara said that The World of the Married became the last K-drama she watched.

The World of the Married follows "a story about a married couple whose betrayal of one another leads to a whirlwind of revenge" as per its IMDb.
The show starred Kim Hee-ae, Park Hae-joon, and Han So-hee.
Hee-ae won the Best Actress award at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards for her performance in the show.
