Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Edward Barber has taken a new step in his faith journey as he begins training to become a pastor.

In an Instagram post by Favor Church, Edward was among the members ordained as pastors in training.

"Last Saturday, during our Leaders Advance, we ordained our new pastors and pastors in training — acknowledging the call of ministry on their lives and commissioning them for the work God has entrusted to them," Favor Church posted.

"We honor their yes and heart for Jesus and Favor Church! Keep them in your prayers as they step into this season. ❤️We have an exciting year ahead, church!"

In an interview for TFC's BRGY back in July 2024, Edward shared that he found his calling in ministry.

"I really found my calling and some people might have assumed straight away na hosting ang calling [ko]. And I believe that it's a part of it. But I really see my calling in ministry," he shared.

Edward recalled that it was during the lowest point in his life when he started to renew his faith and ask for guidance from God.

"I was probably at the lowest part, not just of my career but my life, and I was actually on the floor. I was already an emotional wreck and it was one of those moments when I really just called out to God that things started to happen," he recounted.

Edward went on: "It was really a moment when I'm like, 'God I have everything that the world is telling me I should want. I have the following, I have the projects, I have the money, and I feel like so empty?'"

The Kapamilya host then started to attend a local church as he was trying to find his path.

From then on, Edward shared that he became more active in the church and found out that his calling is to become a lay pastor.

"My dream job is in ministry, like my dream job is somebody who's called a lay pastor. I really found what I believe I'm here on this Earth to do. And I know without a doubt, I've stood and people they look at what I'm doing and like, 'You are wasting your career away.' Remember they were trying to convince me to [do] more in the industry but I'm like at the end of my life, I am not going to stand before God and be like, 'Look at all the projects I did.' He's going to ask me: 'What did you do?' And I'm going to be like, 'I serve You. I knew You,' that's where I feel like I'm supposed to be," he stated.

Edward clarified that he will not be leaving show business but if there comes a time that he needs to choose a path, he will pursue ministry.

"I've seen hosting as my work and I love it. I love the people with me. But at the end of the day if I have to choose between the two, I will probably choose the ministry," he stated.
