Actress Ruffa Gutierrez held her ground and reiterated that the concept of live in is not an option for her.
In her guest appearance on the vlog of businesswoman Anna Magkawas, the actress maintained that having personal spaces keeps the excitement within the relationship.
“Well, I need my space. Pwede naman sleepovers. Live in kasi is you’re living with someone like a married couple. I personally need my space, so I don’t wanna see my jowa [boyfriend] every day, all day – morning, tanghali, gabi. After six months, baka inaaway ko na siya,” she explained.
The businesswoman attempted to explain the other side of the coin, saying: “Yun nga ‘yung point ng iba, parang gusto nilang mag-live in muna para makita nila ‘yung ugali ng [isat’ isa].”
“Kasi parang sa iba gusto na nilang ma-test kung magtatagal ba sila as a couple [kung] makita na nila ‘yung ugali ng isa’t isa [kapag] magkasama na sila sa bahay,” she added.
In her defense, Ruffa suggested that travelling together is one way of getting to know each other.
“I think you’ll see that when you travel together kasi makikita mo how he treats people, swak ba kayo or hindi,” she said. “Tapos ‘pag uwi niyo sa Manila, ‘okay bye, see you in a few days.’ Para at least my excitement. Every time you see the person ay excited ka, naghahanda ka, nagpapaganda ka.”
The 51-year-old emphasized that she will only allow herself to live under one roof with the person she’s married.

“Kaya ako, ayaw ko makipag-live in, kasi kung hindi naman ako asawa, why will I act like a wife? If we’re married, then we can live together,” she said. “Diba I moved nga to Istanbul for Yilmaz. I was at the height of my career then, I had three shows. And then nung nag-propose na siya, I decided to focus 200% on my family and then I left my career behind in the Philippines.”
Ruffa made her position clear when she was asked if she's living with actor-turned-politician Herbert Bautista during an interview with Boy Abunda back in June.
"I've never lived with a person. Hindi ako naniniwala sa live in," she said. "Kaya 'yung mga relasyon ko nagtatagal kasi may space. 'Di ba, excited kayo to see each other? Kung everyday gumigising ka siya katabi mo, parang, 'Oh my gosh!'”
