English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran broke his silence to defend himself after fellow artist Macklemore was dropped from his upcoming shows. In his Instagram account, he expressed how it wasn’t his decision to make and also gave his opinion on what happened.
Macklemore previously announced that he was dropped by Ed’s team from the Loop tour after expressing his support for Palestine during one of the shows earlier this month.

In response to this, Ed maintained that he had no part in the decision to remove the American artist from the lineup. He revealed that he was informed that the rest of his tour dates will be cancelled if Macklemore would continue to be his opening act.
“Macklemore coming off tour was the promoter’s decision, it was not mine. Macklemore’s contract for the tour was with the promoter, not me,” Ed maintained.
Apart from defending himself from the comments on social media, the English singer-songwriter added how he isn’t ‘’complicit’’ to the ongoing war in Gaza as he has always used his platform to bring people together.
“I am not complicit. I have my personal views on this devastating conflict. Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn’t mean I don’t have them, and it doesn’t mean I don’t care. Nor does it mean I don’t support causes in my own, personal way,” he clarified.
Despite his clarification, Ed shared the reason he doesn’t bring politics to his professional platform as he believed that his audiences are young people from various backgrounds.
“There is room for multiple approaches to the same end: peace. I choose to use my fame and platform to be a place of safety and sanctuary, to maintain diplomacy and keep conversations open, not closed,” he said.
