Miss Universe Philippines 2025 1st runner-up and actress Winwyn Marquez welcomed the month of May by sharing a heartfelt reflection on her journey as a mother.
On her social media page, Winwyn opened up about her fears, realizations, and growth as a mom to her daughter, Luna.
“When I became a mom, I had this fear… that everything else I hoped for in life would have to take a back seat. That maybe this was it for me,” Winwyn admitted.
The beauty queen and actress also addressed the common narrative surrounding motherhood.
“Society often paints motherhood as the end of our identity and our ambition. And for a while, naniwala ako. 🙈,” she shared. “I really thought my career would stop. That the woman I used to be... the one with big dreams and goals... would slowly disappear.”
However, Winwyn’s journey proved otherwise. She shared how motherhood not only transformed her but also revealed new strengths and dimensions within herself.
“But here’s what I’ve learned.. motherhood doesn’t make you smaller. If anything, it brings out parts of you na hindi mo alam na meron ka and its just waiting to be seen. It makes you more… more patient, more grounded, more powerful,” she expressed.
Quoting advice from her sister, Winwyn emphasized the importance of self-nurturing while caring for others.
“We can nurture others while still nurturing ourselves (yan ang paalala ng ate ko sa akin). The parts of us that need space, passion, and growth... It’s not always easy - mahirap oo. Some days, we lose pieces of who we are. But slowly, we gather them back… with more strength and meaning,” she stated.
She also championed the idea that women can pursue both their dreams and motherhood, saying, “We can love our families deeply and still chase what sets our soul on fire. We are allowed to be both! mothers and women with our own stories ❤️.”
Celebrating her role as a mom, she declared, “The most meaningful crown I’ll ever wear is being called “Mom.” Yes, I’ve worn crowns onstage.. but this one? This one is built from sleepless nights - unli puyat 🙈, quiet courage, and unconditional love and it means EVERYTHING.”
Winwyn concluded her message with a warm Mother’s Day greeting.
“Happy Mother’s Day to every kind of mama!! still growing, still healing, still dreaming, and still showing up. You are seen, and you are doing better than you think. Mahigpit na yakap sa inyo 💖”
As one of the Miss Universe Philippines 2025 candidates who are also mothers, Winwyn continues to inspire many by showing that dreams don’t end with motherhood.

And they're thanking me, they're sending sobrang kind words to me, and du'n, feeling ko winner na ako because I said it's more than the crown for me.
