MANILA — Sen. Robin Padilla confirmed Tuesday that he received a subpoena from the Department of Justice in connection with its preliminary investigation into his alleged assistance with Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa’s escape from the Senate compound in May.
The DOJ directed Padilla to appear before its prosecutors and submit a counter-affidavit on Sept. 25 and Oct. 9 in relation to the alleged obstruction of justice complaint filed against him, a copy of the subpoena shared by the senator showed.

Dela Rosa, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court, had sought shelter at the Senate, but left hours after a shooting incident rocked its premises. He was seen leaving the Senate with Padilla.
