Bringing fun and excitement to the evening, Lucky Star Pepay Aguilar was all smiles after being chosen by the Lucky Wheel to be the “Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal” celebrity player during the game show’s August 16 episode. After firmly declining the Banker’s first offer of ₱51,000, the stand-up comedian entered the second round hoping to bounce back after losing the ₱500,000 briefcase in the opening round. Though delighted to avoid going home as a “Pisonaryo,” Pepay was left stunned after the ₱1 million jackpot prize was revealed in Jannah Alanise’s briefcase number 6. Refusing to be tempted by the Banker’s ₱25,000 offer, Pepay wrapped up the second round by turning down the enticing deal.
Taking a short break from the game, Pambansang Host Luis Manzano encouraged the celebrity player to to share more about his biological child. Pepay shared that his son, Kenji, is now 20 years old, expressing how proud he is to have someone who will carry on his surname for the next generation.
Pepay also revealed that Kenji had no trouble accepting his father’s identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. The young man even endearingly calls his father “Dada.” When Kenji was still young, Pepay had already explained that putting on makeup was part of getting ready for work, allowing Kenji to grow up understanding and accepting his father for who he is.
Pepay also taught Kenji not to discriminate against gay men on the street, explaining that doing so would also mean making fun of his own father. Encouraging his son to do his best in school, Pepay reassured him with heartfelt words: “Ako bahala sa pagtatrabaho, grumaduate ka lang.”
The Vice Comedy Club entertainer continued his impressive streak in the third round, successfully eliminating the ₱100, ₱300, and ₱500 cash amounts from the money board.
