BLACKPINK’s Lisa released her newest single “SaWaDiKa,” a hip-hop track, on Friday, September 4.
The song arrived alongside a music video filmed in Bangkok, Thailand, featuring visual elements that highlight Lisa’s roots.
The music video was directed by Bang Jae Yeob, who has worked on several K-pop music videos.
As of this writing, the “SaWaDiKa” music video has already garnered nearly 80 million views.
Fans online were quick to react to the music video.
"Lisa has always been proud of where she comes from, and she makes sure the world knows it. Her love for her Thai roots is so beautiful to see," one fan commented.
"LISA, YOU ABSOLUTELY ATE THIS. The rap, the beat, the choreography, the visuals—EVERYTHING IS INSANE. I love how you brought your Thai roots into this era," another fan wrote.
“SaWaDiKa” serves as a single from Lisa’s upcoming EP Press Play, which is set for release on October 23, according to Sony Music Entertainment Korea, as reported by Korea JoongAng Daily.
Apart from releasing new music, Lisa is also gearing up for the premiere of her documentary Always Lalisa at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11.
The documentary showcases Lisa's journey as "for the first time since childhood, she steps away from BLACKPINK for a year of independence," as per previous report of Billboard.
"With the clock ticking before her return to the group, LISA confronts the fear and pressure of launching a solo career, pursuing acting, and building a brand, while yearning to maintain a personal life beyond the spotlight," the film description added.
Always Lalisa is directed by Sue Kim.
The documentary will also be released in theaters for a limited time beginning October 12 as announced by LLOUD.
Lisa is also set to stage her Viva La Lisa residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on November 13 and 14, and November 27 and 28.
