Blackpink member Jennie is receiving protection from her agency, OA Entertainment, after videos from her recent Summer Sonic 2026 performance circulated online and sparked discussions over an alleged wardrobe malfunction.

In a statement shared by SBS News on August 18, OA Entertainment said it has been monitoring posts and content involving Jennie that violates her privacy and personal rights, including allegedly manipulated photos and videos from her recent Summer Sonic 2026 performance.

“We have continuously identified malicious slander, the spread of false information, the malicious editing and manipulation of photos and videos, and posts or distribution violating privacy and personal rights regarding JENNIE across online communities and social media,” the agency said.

OA Entertainment warned that it will pursue legal action depending on the nature, distribution, and severity of the materials.

“We will take active legal measures depending on the content and severity of cases involving the malicious editing or re-manipulation of JENNIE's physical features, the repeated posting or distribution of specific photos or video fragments, and posts or distribution combined with insulting expressions or false information,” the statement further read.

The agency further made clear that it will not be offering agreements or leniency in the cases covered by its legal action.

OA Entertainment’s statement comes after Jennie’s appearance at Summer Sonic 2026, where she made history as the first Korean solo artist to headline the Japanese music festival.

The Blackpink member performed in Tokyo on August 14 before taking the stage in Osaka on August 16.

During her set in Tokyo, Jennie performed wearing a white bra paired with a denim tube-top-style mini dress. Videos from the performance showed her adjusting the outfit throughout the set, including one point when she turned away from the audience to fix her top.

Clips later circulated online, pointing out the alleged brief exposure of her chest during a choreography sequence, prompting discussions about an alleged wardrobe malfunction.

However, questions have been raised over the authenticity and context of some of the circulating material. Online users have questioned whether certain clips were edited or manipulated, with some saying that the videos might be created using deepfake generators to exploit Jennie using her physical appearance at the festival.

Others pointed out that Jennie finished the performance with grace, pointing that there were not any wardrobe malfunctions and that she was simply adjusting her clothing due to the intense choreography.

The discussion also led to concerns about the styling of her outfits, with fans calling on her styling team to consider pieces that would provide greater security during choreography-heavy performances.

The K-Pop star has yet to directly address the alleged wardrobe malfunction or the videos circulating online.

Amid the discussions, Jennie reflected on her recent festival performances through Instagram.

“Looking back, there were so many unexpected moments, so many highs and lows, and I’ve realized that’s just part of life. Not everything is going to be perfect, and maybe it’s not supposed to be,” she wrote.

Jennie added that even the difficult experiences became part of her growth and something she would eventually look back on with appreciation.

“I’m learning to appreciate every part of the journey for what it was, even the harder moments, because they taught me so much and helped me grow.”

She said she hopes to carry the lessons and memories from the chapter into whatever comes next.

The Blackpink star ended her reflection by saying she would leave the chapter with love, gratitude, and inspiration, along with memories she will continue to treasure.
