Netflix has unveiled the first teaser for its upcoming Filipino Original series Balaraw.
The series stars Janine Gutierrez as Sabina, a woman who finds herself in a mysterious island.
"The island has long been calling for Sabina. What kind of danger lies ahead for her on an island shrouded in mystery? Balaraw: Blood Island will reveal itself soon, on October 29, only on Netflix," the description on YouTube read.
The teaser shows Sabina arriving on the island, where she encounters a mysterious group of people and soon discovers that leaving Balaraw may not be easy.
"Nagpapasalamat kami at may makakasama kaming bago dito sa isla," the voice-over in the teaser said.
"Makakaalis ka ng Balaraw. Hindi mo lang matatakasan," another voice-over declared.
Fans online were quick to react to the teaser.
"Excited for this. Looks fantastic!!!" one fan wrote.
Aside from Janine, Balaraw will also star Agot Isidro, and Charlie Dizon.
Back in February, Janine also expressed her excitement over being part of the project, which she described as a major milestone for Filipino storytelling on the streaming platform.
"It's the first Filipino Netflix Original Series that will be streamed globally, Directed by @raeredcc and produced by @epicmediaph and the most amazing team of actors, creatives, crew. Let's show the world what Filipino horror is about," she posted on Instagram at that time.
She added: "On a personal note, waaaah this is a super super dream project and a reunion with the Babae at Baril team!!!"

Meanwhile in June, Janine renewed her contract with ABS-CBN and signed with Star Magic, marking another chapter in her career with the network.
Speaking at a media conference following the contract signing, the actress shared how meaningful it was for her to continue being part of the Kapamilya talent roster, especially alongside artists she admires.
"I am so grateful na they accepted me with open arms. Because alam ko na Star Magic is super loaded and packed with so many talented Kapamilyas and actors – talagang a lot of people that I look up to. So I'm so happy na mayroon pa palang space for me. Siguro just coming into this new contract with ABS-CBN kasi siyempre marami pa akong gustong gawin and ma-achieve. And I know that under the guidance of Star Magic na talagang very successful in mentoring and supporting their artists, alam ko na mas madami pa akong mararating," she remarked.
