Filipino talents in Hollywood were among the stars who attended the Emmy Awards on Monday (United States time), celebrating excellence in television programming.
Among them was Filipino-American actress Isa Briones, who stars in "The Pitt," which won the award for best drama series for the second consecutive year.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Briones stressed the importance of healthcare — the sector represented in the series that follows workers in a Pittsburgh emergency room.
"Everyone needs healthcare. I just hope that people look at it and... try to take the politics out of it because it's like: This is a human issue," Briones said.
"We're just showing that these humans who work in an ED (emergency department) are just trying to serve the most vulnerable in our communities, and why can they not have access to life-saving care or just general human care," she added.

Also present was Tia Carrere, who stressed the importance of making movies and TV shows "the traditional way" in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).
"The fact that we're still making movies and television the traditional way is a win. It's a very very fraught time, and people are very worried about AI taking over everybody's jobs, but I urge people to keep picking up their cameras and making movies and movies like 'Obsession' or 'Backrooms,'" she said.
"As long as they're making money, Hollywood will pay attention and keep making these movies," she added.
Meanwhile, Lena Hall, star of "Your Friends & Neighbors," gave a shoutout to her family in the Philippines.
"I want to meet you one day, the Carvajals," said the actress, whose real name is Celina Consuela Gabriella Carvajal.
While "The Pitt" took home best drama again, the comedy-horror series "Widow's Bay" also made buzz with 14 awards, setting a new record for the most awards won by a comedy in a single year.
