MANILA — The first teaser for Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo’s upcoming film “Laya” has been released, offering an early look at the emotionally charged drama led by Andrea Brillantes, JC Santos and Anthony Jennings.
The official teaser opens with Brillantes' character swimming with a whale shark. The next scene shows Brillantes meeting Santos' character, who is an ex-criminal.
In September 2025, Deadline reported that "'Laya' follows a young woman who drifts from place to place carrying an unresolved anger from the loss of her father at a young age, until her path crosses with a lonely ex-criminal, also haunted by shadows from the past."
Set in Oslob, Cebu, "Laya" is described as a "redemption movie" and is produced by Rein Entertainment. It is written and directed by Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo, who is known for her acclaimed films such as "Kita Kita," "Mr. and Mrs. Cruz," "Untrue" and "Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita."
