Sue Ramirez couldn’t help but feel flattered after hearing that she’s JM de Guzman’s favorite leading lady.
During the special screening of their film Lasting Moments, PUSH ABS-CBN caught up with the actress for an exclusive chat.
“Well, first time namin na maging parang love interest sa isang project. But I'm very very honored,” she expressed.
JM recently revealed in his interview with Bianca Gonzalez on the Cinema One talk show The B Side that Sue Ramirez is his favorite among the leading ladies he has worked with.
For Sue, the feeling is mutual. She admitted it has long been a dream of hers to star alongside JM as his leading lady.
“Matagal ko na actually dream to at alam niya yun na dream ko na makatrabaho ko talaga siya. And finally we were given the chance so I'm very lucky. I love you, J.M. Thank you,” she expressed.
JM and Sue first worked together in the 2011 remake of the hit teleserye Mula Sa Puso. JM took on the role of Gabriel Maglayon, originally made iconic by the late Rico Yan. Sue, on the other hand, played Nicole, the daughter of the series’ main antagonist Selena Matias portrayed by Eula Valdes in the adaptation.
Meanwhile, Sue revealed that their film Lasting Moments was originally scheduled for an earlier release but had to be moved due to adjustments in the lineup of film screenings.
“At first, we were supposed to be showing it around May or June pero ang daming international films that we had to give way. Grabe, in our own country, we had to give way. Kasi parang tinanggap na lang natin na walang manonood,” she mentioned.
But the timing seems just right this time, as their film has even managed to extend its run in cinemas.
“Tamang-tama ang timing namin. Talagang timing is everything and it was a perfect time to release this movie. Kasabay ng iba't-ibang Filipino films din, di ba? Nakaka-proud na nung pinalabas kami, there was Sunshine, there was P77, and all those other beautiful Filipino films. So it's such an honor to be on that roster,” the actress said.
Sue also expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming acceptance and support the project has been receiving.
“I'm so happy na tinanggap kami ng mga tao, how we wanted to be accepted. And we really had the message come across na this movie is about really finding how special the time is with the people that we love and hindi na natin mababalik. So yun yung importance dun. Sana nag-come across,” she said.
