Comedy superstar Vice Ganda and co-star Shuvee Etrata exchanged heartfelt messages during the media day of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry "Call Me Mother."
The two, together with the rest of the cast, were asked, "Aside from their biological mother, who is that one person that they consider as a 'mother'"?
Vice Ganda named the late director Wenn Deramas and ABS-CBN's COO Cory Vidanes as her mothers.
Meanwhile, Iyah Mina and Esnyr both chose Vice as their 'mothers' for paving the way for members of the LGBTQIA+ to have a spotlight in the biz. Veteran actress Chanda Romero, who plays a social worker in the movie, chose National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee as her 'mother,' while Carmi Martin shared that the late director Lino Brocka took her into his wings like his own child, back in the '80s.
Shuvee Etrata chose Vice Ganda as well, as her 'mother.' For context, It's been publicly known that months back, Shuvee received some heated reactions from netizens on her past videos that resurfaced. One of those was a video involving Vice Ganda.
When Etrata started sharing why she chose Vice, the room suddenly had their ears all on what she had to say.
Vice replied, "Ako love ko 'yang si Shuvee. Kaya sabi ko huwag tayong malulunod sa ingay; dapat tayong dalawa ang nagkakaintindihan. At nagkakaintindihan kaming dalawa ni Shuvee."
"I'm happy na I was given this chance to breathe the same air as Meme (Vice)," Etrata said.
"Binago niya ang buhay ko, sa pag-aartista ko po, simula sa 'PBB' hindi po namin alam ang pinaggagawa namin sa buhay. Ngayong na-realize ko na ang mundong ito ay madali as long as you let them -- let them teach you, let them guide you, learn how to be accountable, learn from your mistakes and always look up to the person you value the most," she added.
This wonderful exchanged of kind words between Etrata and Vice put the issue between the two, to rest.
"Call Me Mother" premieres on December 25, nationwide.
