Marvel Studios has released the teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, featuring Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as Thor.
In the teaser, an emotional Thor seeks guidance from his late father, Odin, as he prepares for what lies ahead.
He said: "Father, all my life I've answered every call, to honor, duty, to war. But now fate has given me something I never sought: a child, a life untouched by the storm. Lend me the strength of the All Fathers so that I may fight once more, defeat one more enemy, and return home to her — and not as a warrior but as warmth, to teach her not battle but stillness, the kind I never knew. Please, father. Hear my words."
It can be recalled that Thor now has an adoptive daughter named Love.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Marvel Studios has also previously revealed in a teaser the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers.
Another Avengers movie called Secret Wars is set to be released on December 17, 2027.
Back in July 2024, it was announced that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the Marvel universe, this time as Victor Von Doom aka Doctor Doom.
Joe and Anthony Russo, collectively known as the Russo Brothers, are set to be the directors of the upcoming two Avengers movies.
They previously directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014, Captain America: Civil War in 2016, Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, and Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
"When we directed Avengers: Endgame, we really believed it was the end for us in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That four-movie run was incredible, and it left us creatively spent," Joe Russo stated in an interview with Variety.
On what made them come back, Joe highlighted that the reason was Avengers: Secret Wars which he described as a "very special story."
"It’s the biggest story that Marvel comics ever told. It’s the reason that Anthony and I are standing up here," he stated.
The duo remarked that in order to lay the foundation for Secret Wars, a vital character like Doctor Doom is required.
