Insomniac Games on Wednesday announced that "Marvel’s Wolverine" will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 consoles in fall 2026, offering players a fresh take on the iconic Marvel character.
In a post on the PlayStation blog, Aaron Jason Espinoza, senior community manager at Insomniac Games, unveiled a new trailer and the game’s cover art, noting that the cover “bridges bold simplicity with the expressive energy of comics to further accentuate Wolverine’s rugged, complex personality.” The trailer also includes Descriptive Audio, accessible in the video settings.
“Bold, resilient, and volatile, Wolverine is a character that all of us at Insomniac are thrilled to explore in collaboration with our friends at Marvel Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment,” Espinoza wrote. “Like our 'Marvel’s Spider-Man' franchise, we’re once again combining our super powers to deliver an original take on a beloved character based on Marvel Comics.”
Actor Liam McIntyre voices Wolverine, portraying “the rage, pain, and nuances of this iconic character,” Espinoza said. In the game, Logan hunts for secrets tied to a dark past, often engaging in brutal combat. Wolverine’s skills include rapid attacks and techniques using his adamantium claws, alongside a berserker rage that allows him to take on multiple enemies.
The game features appearances by familiar Marvel characters such as Mystique and Omega Red. Enemy factions, including the Reavers, challenge Wolverine in locations ranging from Madripoor to Canada and Tokyo. Espinoza described the game as “built from the ground up for PlayStation 5 consoles” and said it combines fast, fluid combat with action-packed set pieces and accessibility features.
“We aim to deliver the ultimate Wolverine fantasy,” he wrote. “This is an original take on Logan and his iconic adamantium-centric skillset… that’s a fancy way of saying ‘claws.’”
"Marvel’s Wolverine" is scheduled to launch in fall 2026, with further updates expected in spring 2026.
