Coming from major productions like On Your Feet! and The Bodyguard musical, actor Vien King takes on another acting challenge as part of the cast of Muli: An OPM Musical where he plays the role of the first love of lead actress Kakki Teodoro, who plays the role of Anita.
“I play Ian, Anita’s campus crush. What I love most about this musical is how it looks back at first love in such an honest, heartfelt way. Hindi lang ito basta kilig, may layers din siya tungkol sa mga desisyon at ‘what ifs’ na dala natin hanggang ngayon. Sobrang relatable, and I think audiences will really see themselves in it,” Vien told PUSH ABS-CBN in an exclusive interview.
With the musical’s storyline centered on the concept of what would you do if you could live your life all over again, Vien admitted that he also has his own TOTGA (the one that got away) experience.
“I also have my own TOTGA story haha. But honestly, I don’t have much regret. Every ‘what could’ve been’ led me to where I am now, and I’ve learned na yung mga hindi natutuloy usually may reason. Sometimes, it’s like a reminder to us that it’s better to try and fail than not trying at all. Through that TOTGA experience, I learned that it’s her loss, not mine (laughs).
“Seriously, I learned that in life, when you really want something, just do it, because time is limited and we only have one chance. We really just have to seize the moment. But at the same time, I think that those moments also teach us to learn and grow as individuals, and whatever is meant for us will always come to us,” he shared.
Proud to be part of this all-original local production, Vien explained why this musical is close to his heart.
“Siguro dahil sobrang Pinoy ng puso ng Muli. Mula sa mga kanta, sa mga reference hanggang sa emotional core niya about families and second chances. Iba talaga ang pakiramdam kapag ginagawa mo yung something na personal at relatable sa generation mo, as a tito (laughs),” he added.
