Sassa Gurl looked back on the sacrifices her mother, Ester, made to help her fulfill her dreams.
The content creator shared that her mother started working as a kasambahay long before she was born.
"Si mother kasi umalis na siya sa kanila 16-year-old pa lang. Galing siyang Samar. Gusto niya kasing magtrabaho dito sa Maynila. Hanggang sa napunta siya sa bahay kung saan nakatira 'yung papa ko. Tapos 'yung papa ko kasi parang 'yung may-ari ng bahay na 'yun kamag-anak ng papa ko," she shared in an interview with Kara David on i-Listen.
Sassa Gurl said she also grew up in the homes of the families her mother worked for.
She expressed pride in her mother for being able to put her through college despite raising her as a single parent.
"'Yung nanay ko napagtapos niya ako ng college sa pagkakasambahay at single mom lang siya," she said.
Sassa Gurl also highlighted her mother’s perseverance and dedication, recalling how she rarely saw her take time off from work.
"Na-appreciate ko talaga 'yung nanay ko kasi kakaiba pala talaga 'yung hirap at tiyaga niya kasi ako ngayon hindi ko kayang mag-trabaho na hindi ako nagpapahinga, ng hindi nagba-bakasyon, ng hindi gumagala. Hindi ko nakita nanay ko nag-bakasyon. Hindi ko nakita nanay ko na nag-lakwatsa o nag-pahinga talagang dere-derecho nagta-trabaho talaga siya at hindi maluho ang nanay ko," she said.
The actress added that her mother was also supportive of her childhood dream of becoming an entertainer.
"Wala talaga ako sa posisyon ko ngayon kung wala siya. Nakita niya 'yung ambisyon ko. Bata pa lang gusto ako, gusto ko ng maging entertainer, artista. Nakalagay 'yun sa yearbook ko kumbaga nung high school, to be a professional entertainer. At kung mahirap ka, ang hirap suportahan nun," she pointed out.
Despite their financial struggles, Sassa Gurl said her mother did everything she could to support her education and aspirations.
"Pero sinuportahan niya talaga ako. Nilaban niya talaga na mapunta ao sa ganitong posisyon na makapag-aral ako. Sabi ko, ‘Mama, gusto ko makapag-aral sa magandang school para makuha ko 'yung gusto kong degree at maintindihan ko 'yung paano maging artista.’ Kasi hind mo naman masasabi na magkaka-future ka sa ganyang larangan," she stated.

The content creator shared that her mother sent her to Far Eastern University, where she took up Mass Communication.
"Pinag-aral niya ako sa FEU at nakita ko talaga 'yung sacrifice niya sa akin na hindi siya titigil, na mangungutang siya kani-kanino sa mga tindahan para may pang-tuition kasi sabi ko gusto ko mag-Mass Comm kasi 'pag mag Mass Comm ako, magigigng artista ako," she stated.
