MANILA — Actor Elijah Canlas admitted that he is currently going through a difficult period in his personal life amid circulating rumors about the status of his relationship with actress Miles Ocampo.
During an interview for his upcoming film “HB2ME,” Canlas was asked whether he considers himself at his happiest at this point in his life.
“Not really, but it’s okay, kasi busy sa work. It’s hard to ignore those blessings,” Canlas said.
While the actor did not directly address or confirm the breakup rumors involving Ocampo, he acknowledged that this is not the happiest chapter of his life.
“Spending time with the family, of course, pero it’s not the happiest moment of my life,” he said.
Canlas added that he is simply allowing himself to go through the situation while choosing to focus his energy on his career and the people close to him.
“Life, you know, I’m really going through it, but just living life and focusing on work and focusing on the people around us,” he shared.
Despite what he may be experiencing personally, Canlas has plenty to keep him busy professionally.
The actor is currently promoting “HB2ME,” where he stars opposite award-winning actor John Arcilla. The action-comedy and suspense film, written and directed by Veronica Velasco, opens in cinemas nationwide on August 19.
Canlas is also set to fly to Finland to work on another film under MavX Productions.
“I’m actually going out of the country tomorrow. The team is already there,” he said, adding that he expects to spend his upcoming birthday while working abroad.
He also shared that he has yet to hold an advanced birthday celebration because of his packed schedule.
“Wala pang advanced celebration. Maybe pagbalik, kasi puro trabaho,” he said.
Before leaving the country, Canlas made time to catch films at Cinemalaya, saying he wanted to continue supporting Philippine cinema despite having only a few days before his trip.
For now, Canlas appears to be keeping the details of his personal life private, with the actor neither confirming nor denying the speculation surrounding him and Ocampo.
Instead, he said he is choosing to focus on the blessings in his career, his family and the people around him as he navigates this chapter of his life.
As of writing, Ocampo has yet to respond to a message from ABS-CBN News seeking her comment on the speculation surrounding their relationship.
