Nadine Lustre is speaking up again. And this time, she is not holding back.
The Kapamilya star recently took to her Instagram community channel to share her thoughts on the mounting issues she has been following, including pointed commentary on the state of the Philippine government.
In a lengthy post on her "daily rant" channel, Nadine called the current situation a "blatant sh—show" and said it has started to feel personally insulting.
"At this point, it's become such a blatant sh—show that it almost feels insulting," she wrote.
"It's so obvious that so many of them are just toying with us, treating people like we're too blind to notice the corruption, incompetence, performative concern, and endless cycle of disappointment,” she added.
She said the breaking point was opening her phone and being met with an unrelenting stream of bad news.
"I sat down and started reflecting after opening my phone today, because I was instantly flooded with another story, another video, another reminder of how deeply messed up so much of the world around us has become. It's been undeniably overwhelming."
At the heart of her message was a frustration she said is hard to shake. She said that no matter what happens at the top, it is always the same people who bear the consequences.
"Somehow, ordinary people are always the ones left carrying the burden of their greed," she wrote.
Her post comes at a time when public frustration with the Philippine government has been running particularly high.
This is far from the first time Nadine has used her platform to weigh in on issues bigger than showbiz.
Fondly called "President Nadine" by her fans, she has built a reputation over the years for being one of the more outspoken celebrities in the country on socio-political matters.
During the height of the pandemic, she was vocal about government accountability and the struggles of ordinary Filipinos who fell through the cracks.
She has also been a consistent voice on environmental issues, speaking out against policies and practices she believes cause long-term harm to the country.
When the 2022 national elections came around, she was among the celebrities who actively encouraged the public to vote wisely and stay informed.
For her fans, none of this comes as a surprise. Nadine has always been that kind of public figure and one who clearly believes that having a platform comes with a responsibility to use it.
