It was right before she entered her teen years that Cassy Legaspi first got inspired to consider getting into acting. The now 24-year-old actress, who is the daughter of celebrity couple Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villarroel, revealed to PUSH ABS-CBN in an exclusive interview that it wasn’t actually her parents who convinced her to give showbiz a try.
Cassy recalled accompanying her mom to the set of the 2013 ABS-CBN Kathniel hit series Got to Believe where she first got to see how lead star Kathryn Bernardo focused on work on the set.
“Oh my gosh, si ate Kathryn Bernardo. Actually, she’s the reason why I wanted to join showbiz. Because nung time na yun, nag-te-taping sila ng Got to Believe ni kuya DJ (Padilla) and my mom was part of the show,” she recalled. In the series, Carmina played the overprotective mom Juliana San Juan-Manansala to her son, Joaquin, played by Daniel Padilla.
Even though it was only five years later when she officially joined showbiz by signing with the kapuso network, Cassy said she will never forget being impressed by Kathryn’s professionalism as an actress.
“I always visit their set as in always (laughs) and i-no-observe ko si ate Kathryn na ah ganun pala siya, nagbabasa ng script, ganun. And then that’s when I decided that I want to take showbiz seriously. So I watched all of her shows and movies, lahat ng projects niya!” she admitted.
While attending the ABS-CBN Ball for the first time in 2023 where she attended as the date of her close friend Darren Espanto, Cassy uploaded a picture of herself and Kathryn embracing each other, with Cassy declaring in her post that Kathryn was her “real date” for the night

Since becoming an actress, Cassy shared that her encounters with Kathryn have always been happy, with her telling Kathryn how much of an inspiration she is to her.
“Yes po. I told her and super thankful and grateful siya. She said, ‘You should be your own person. It’s okay to idolize me but you can be your own person din.’ Sabi niya kasi grabe daw yung personality ko, very hyper, very madaldal. So she said, ‘Just enjoy your time in showbiz and be yourself.’"
