MANILA -- OPM singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid paid tribute to singer-composer Davey Langit, who passed away on Tuesday, October 21.
On Instagram, Alcasid uploaded a video, which shows Langit's happiness receiving a gift from him.
In the caption, Alcasid honored Langit for his talent in music and kind heart.
"Davey… hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala. Ito yung pinadala mo na video sa akin nung natanggap mo surprise ko sa yo nung nanalo OKC. Ang saya saya mo. ❤️❤️😢😢😢Marami kami na nagmamahal sa yo at humahanga sa galing mo sa pag sulat at pag awit. Higit sa lahat sa napakabuti mong puso," Alcasid wrote.
Alcasid admitted that the sudden death of Langit was heartbreaking.
"Magka text lang tayo ilang linggo lamang ang nakalipas. Nakakalungkot at nakakabigla. Lubos kaming nakikiramay kay Therese at sa yong mga mahal sa buhay. Lalo na si Aikee na kausap ko kaninang umaga. Rest in peace inaanak. Sing with the angels @iamdaveylangit," Alcasid added.
On Tuesday, Langit's wife, Therese, confirmed the passing of her husband, who was earlier revealed to have a rare spinal infection.
Langit's memorial will be held at the Phoenix Memorial Chapels & Crematory in Santa Rosa, Laguna from October 23 to 26 and at St. Peter Urdaneta from October 27 to 29.
Langit started his music career in 2006 as part of ABS-CBN's "Pinoy Dream Academy" season 1.
In 2016, his song "Dalawang Letra" won at the Himig Handog P-pop Love Songs. Davey is behind the hit "Selfie Song."
