Vice Ganda led a “Super Bowl”-inspired performance, with the Kapamilya superstar lighting up the venue in a spectacle that set the tone for the latest UAAP season, which is hosted by Far Eastern University.
“FEU allowed me to be free, free to be myself,” said Vice Ganda, a former Political Science student at FEU.
Meanwhile, despite being without the other six members of the nation’s girl group, BINI’s Mikha and Maloi also commanded the MOA Arena crowd alongside Vice Ganda, with the trio performing Ciara’s “Level Up.”
Also joining the festivities were FEU alum Gloc-9, Darren Espanto, Maki, Kyle Echarri, and “It’s Showtime” girl group Baby Dolls.
Gloc-9 was the first guest to take the stage, performing some of his hits, including “Upuan” and “Simpleng Tao,” among others.
Darren, Maki, Kyle Echarri, and the Baby Dolls then shared the floor with Vice Ganda before the “Unkabogable” star addressed the audience with a strong social message and ended the show with DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win.”
The UAAP Season 89 men’s basketball tournament then gets underway with an even bigger triple-header on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
FEU will face Adamson University at 12 p.m., while defending champion De La Salle University will take on National University at 2:30 p.m.
In the main offering at 6 p.m., University of the Philippines will open its redemption bid against University of Santo Tomas.
