Photo by Michael Bagtas, ABS-CBN News.MANILA — Vice Ganda has cemented her spot among the most prominent products of Far Eastern University, with the Kapamilya superstar now among the country’s brightest celebrities.

However, even the former Political Science student had FEU legends she looked up to, particularly in the UAAP scene, where Vice Ganda’s presence has also extended from time to time.

But with the extensive list of Tamaraw legends, who does the “Unkabogable” star have at the top of her list?

“One of the most legendary PBA players, Johnny Abarrientos. Sa volleyball naman, si Rachel Anne Daquis,” she revealed after the UAAP Season 89 opening ceremonies over the weekend.

Vice Ganda cited Abarrientos’ prowess and how the “Flying A” even attracted interest from the world stage, as well as Daquis’ longevity and continued success, as the reasons why she looks up to the two FEU legends.

“He almost made it to the NBA,” Vice Ganda said of the two-time UAAP champion guard, who begged off from an invitation to a training camp with the Charlotte Hornets in the 1990s.

“Hanggang ngayon, naglalaro pa rin at pumupuntos sa PVL,” added Vice Ganda of Daquis, a one-time UAAP champion with the Lady Tamaraws who is currently signed with Zus Coffee.

And while Vice Ganda continues to support FEU and the UAAP in general, she also has a challenge for the league’s current crop of athletes, one that extends beyond the court.

“I just want to advise them, not just athletes but young people, to not consume so much of social media,” she said. “Kung gaano kalaki yung pagkonsumo mo sa social media, ‘di mo nararamdaman na nauubos ka rin.”

“Social media is not as beautiful as it was. Mas toxic na siya, kesa sa fun. Social media is not life, it is not education,” she added.
