MANILA — Information and Communications Techonology Secretary Henry Aguda on Tuesday acknowledged several government agencies have been targeted by recent cyber attacks, adding he anticipates an increase in threats in coming months.
“The cyber security threat, ongoing naman 'yan (that is always ongoing)," he said at a forum on Tuesday. He said what is alarming is that the attacks are becoming more frequent.
He said the Philippines may be facing a situation "similar to New York", where multiple attacks have been reported.
"I think cyber threats and cyber attacks will just escalate as the months go by,” Aguda said.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology confirmed Monday night it had detected cyber threats to government agencies, inlcuding to the web services of the Department of Migrant Workers and Department of Labor and Employment.
Aguda assured the public that no sensitive information has been compromised in those attacks.

He said the Maritime Industry Authority is still restoring its system but that the attack has been contained.
"Then DOLE — they’ve been able to fix the issue," Aguda told ABS-CBN News.
Aguda said that with these trends, DICT and other other government agencies are preparing for all kinds of cyber threats.
The DICT also has officially launched the Philippines’ AI + Infrastructure Masterplan (PAIIM 2026-2030).
The PAIIM 2026-2030 outlines a coordinated national strategy to develop world-class AI infrastructure, strengthen digital connectivity, and build robust AI ecosystem.
