MANILA— It’s not every day that you get a phone with a battery so massive, it might as well be a power bank.

Xiaomi officially launched the Redmi Note 17 series in the Philippines on Tuesday, featuring four new smartphones anchored by a model with an eye-popping 10,000mAh battery.

Leading the stack is the first-ever Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G, which crams that 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery into a device powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor.

Xiaomi paired the massive cell with 100W HyperCharge fast charging and 27W reverse charging to power other gadgets. So, yes, technically this is a power bank, with a midrange phone as a bonus.

The company claims the battery will retain at least 80 percent capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, backing up a promised six-year battery health life.

The rest of the family—the Pro 5G, Note 17 5G, and base Note 17—isn't short on endurance either, packing batteries ranging from 7,700mAh to 8,340mAh.

Beyond battery gains, Xiaomi is leaning heavily into ruggedness under its new "Titan Durability" banner. Both Pro models feature TÜV SUD 5-star certification, IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K water resistance ratings, Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and three-meter drop protection on granite.

They also boast 6.83-inch 1.5K displays pushing up to 3,500 nits peak brightness, alongside an all-new Underwater Mode.

On the software side, the series includes up to six years of security updates, built-in Google Gemini AI, and Circle to Search. The Pro Max also introduces a photochromic "Cloud Blush" back panel that changes colors under UV light.

Pricing and Availability

The Redmi Note 17 series will have an early bird pricing valid through October 1. The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G starts at P28,999  for the 8GB/256GB variant, going up to P32,999 for the 16GB/512GB variant.
