MANILA — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is still verifying reports of a presence of a Chinese hydrographic vessel near Palawan, the Malacañang said on Thursday.
“Ongoing ang verification ng report. May mga barko ang PCG na nagbabantay sa area,” Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said.
“Kung ano man po ang intensyon ng bansang China, hindi natin ito masasagot,” she told Palace reporters.

Several Chinese hydrographic survey ships linked to the People’s Liberation Army Navy were reportedly spotted around 1.15 nautical miles south of Galoc Island in Palawan, while another vessel was reportedly seen off the coast of Panatag Shoal.
