MANILA -- The lawyer of the family of Rene Baterbonia said they are studying the possibility of filing a supplemental complaint over the Ateneo student athlete's death.
Atty. Israelito Torreon said they have yet to decide on their next legal move as they are still waiting for a copy of the complaint for violation of the Anti-Hazing Law filed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) before the Department of Justice (DOJ).

"I really could not comment fully kasi I have not seen the complaint. It is very unique because the supposed complainant has not been given a complete set of the copy of the complaint," Torreon said.
The lawyer was not able to attend the CIDG's closed-door briefing with the Baterbonia family after arriving late due to heavy traffic.
He said, however, that an associate and another lawyer from their team were eventually allowed to be with the family during the meeting.
"It turned out na may pinapirmahan na pala ‘yung mga authorities sa aking client while we were away sa Agusan and apparently na-file na ‘yung complaint but we still have remedies under the law," Torreon said.
Torreon cited Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla's clarification about the CIDG's recommendation.
He said this also leaves open the possibility of adding other individuals whom the family believes should be held liable.
"Since the DILG Secretary himself states that certain respondents can still be withdrawn from the complaint, then there is likewise no prohibition on our part to file a supplemental complaint, including certain persons, whom we view to be likewise responsible for the incident. Pero that would still be under study," he explained.
The CIDG has recommended the conduct of preliminary investigation against resigned Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin and ten others over the team-building activity in Aurora that claimed the lives of student-athletes Baterbonia and Divine Adili.
The recommendation is now awaiting evaluation by the DOJ.
