MANILA — The Gateway Art Fair returns for its fifth edition October 1 to 4 at Gateway Mall 2 in Quezon City, bringing together more than 200 Filipino artists while introducing new programs aimed at supporting their careers.
Presented by the J. Amado Araneta Foundationn (JAAF), Gateway Gallery and Araneta City, and co-presented by Metrobank, the four-day fair will feature artworks from artists across the country, along with free workshops, talks and art installations around Araneta City.
A new addition this year is a capacity-building workshop organized with the Department of Trade and Industry-NCR, which will provide artists with marketing tools and other skills to help them develop as creative entrepreneurs.
The fair will also launch the Gateway Art Fair Awards, which will recognize participating artists with prizes from Boysen Paint Philippines and Art Bar, as well as specially designed trophies.
“By investing in capacity building and creative entrepreneurship, we aren’t just putting on an art fair — we are helping artists step through the threshold into sustainable careers,” JAAF executive director Diane Romero said.
The Gateway Art Fair was launched in 2022 as part of JAAF’s efforts to create opportunities through art, culture and creative development.
Beyond the exhibitions, the fair will offer three days of talks and workshops led by participating artists and experts from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts. The activities will run October 2 to 4 at Gateway Mall 1.
Art installations by local artists will also be displayed throughout Gateway Mall 2 during the fair.
Proceeds from and activities surrounding the Gateway Art Fair also support JAAF’s arts and culture programs, including initiatives of the Gateway Gallery, Araneta City’s museum.
