Going to the movies is one of those things that can feel like a splurge once you add up the tickets, snacks, and whatever else inevitably ends up in the basket. So a ₱100 movie ticket is enough to make even the most casual moviegoer consider spending a little more time at the cinema.
Gateway Cineplex 18 is joining the Philippines’ first-ever National Cinema Day on September 12, with select local and international films available for just ₱100 per ticket for one day. The cinema is dedicating nine of its regular screens to the celebration, with a lineup that runs from new releases to extended screenings.
Among the new movies are “Poon,” “Life After You,” “Practical Magic 2,” “Fall 2,” and “Cahim.”
The extended lineup brings back a mix of titles including “Insidious,” “Spider-Man,” “End of Oak Street,” “Hope,” “Onslaught,” “Paw Patrol,” “The Guardian,” “Saving Cherry,” “Pinakamasarap na Pares,” “Colony,” “Masters of the Universe,” “The Drama,” “Obsession,” “Backrooms,” “The Substance,” “Senior Moments,” “Sheep Detectives,” “Home Along Da Riles,” “Magina,” “Flow,” and “Love Ngo.”
With 26 films in the lineup, September 12 could easily turn into an all-day affair for movie fans who want to squeeze in more than one screening.
The ₱100 tickets apply to regular and Dolby Atmos cinemas on September 12 only.

Make a day of it
The movie doesn't have to be the only stop. Ticket holders can also get discounts from participating dining and retail establishments around Araneta City. Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and DQ branches within Araneta City will offer 10% off, while Sticky Sweet at World Kitchens in Gateway Mall 2 will offer 15% off select menu items. Snaxx will also give ticket holders 10% off à la carte orders.
It gives moviegoers an easy excuse to stretch the day beyond the theater. Catch a morning screening, grab lunch, then see if there's another film worth staying for.
For those looking for a more premium cinema experience, Wolfgang Premiere Lounges A, B, and C and World Kitchens Platinum Cinema will continue their standard operations during the celebration.

A reason to return to the big screen
The Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines is spearheading National Cinema Day, with support from the Film Development Council of the Philippines, the Film Academy of the Philippines, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, and the Quezon City Screen Commission.
The inaugural celebration is intended to bring audiences back to movie theaters and put the communal experience of watching a film on the big screen back into focus.
For one day, at least, the math is pretty easy. ₱100 gets you into the movies, and 26 films give you plenty of reasons to stay.
