MANILA -- “Bagets the Musical” lead star KD Estrada dismissed rumors that he and Alexa Ilacad had a falling-out, stressing that they continue to have a close and supportive relationship.

“I don’t know where it came from. Maybe kasi wala kaming work together. I understand there are other artists. But we are good behind the camera. We don’t have to show anything,” he explained in an interview held after the press conference of the upcoming stage musical on Friday. “It does not always have to be in front of people. Hindi porke’t ‘di kami nakikita, wala na. May mga chismosa again.”

Estrada added that even though they are busy with their individual projects, they are still looking out for each other.

“That is super OK. We are thriving separately. We want to grow together but also as individuals apart,” he reasoned.

He also noted that he remains one of Ilacad’s cheerleaders and a part of her support systems as she competes in “Your Face Sounds Familiar.”

“They tape it in advance and she shows me. Nagdududa siya but I tell her this is good,” he recalled. “Excellent 10/10 performance.”

Estrada is currently focused on refining his performance as Arnel in “Bagets the Musical,” the character first brought to life by Raymond Lauchengco.

“I am so excited, grabe. I feel younger. High schooler kasi. Iba energy na binibigay namin,” he said.

Estrada is among the new generation of stars will be bringing to life the 1984 blockbuster hit “Bagets” in the musical adaptation that will open at Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City on January 26, 2026.

Also part of the ensemble cast is Andres Muhlach, who will be taking on the character of Adie, the breakout role of his father Aga Muhlach.

“He is excited. He can’t believe it rin on January makita ka niya. He has not coached me,” Andres revealed.  “When I asked him what I can do, sabi niya lang, ‘Kaya mo na yan’ and just to devote and commit myself.”

This marks the younger Muhlach’s stage debut.

“I am sure after rehearsals I will be ready. I am very confident with PETA Plus and Viva in preparing all of us,” he explaiend.

Meanwhile, Estrada bagged the role of Arnel after his standout audition.

“I kept hearing about it lang from titas and titos. They always say sana ma-remake. So when auditions popped up, I thought it was a sign. I just went for it — gut feeling nila,” Estrada recalled.

“Super na miss ko teatro. Hinanap ng katawan ko recently. Gusto ko talaga bumalik,” added Estrada, who made his stage debut in PETA's "Walang Aray" with Ilacad.
