Gifted Kids in Action: Bringing life through sound

What happens when four Gifted Kids share one room?

Every milestone begins with a Gifted Brain. Inside the Gifted Workroom, director Tili, scriptwriter Alfie, animator Maddie, and cinematographer Javi came together for a mission. Surrounded by props, crafts, and gadgets that inspired their imagination, they collaborated to create their first short animated film, Promil Gifted Kids in Action - a film made for Gifted Kids, by Gifted Kids.

Guided by mentors such as award-winning director Tonet Jadaone, international children's book illustrator Joemike Tejido, and screenwriter Cha Esguerra, the young creators learned the fundamentals of filmmaking. They explored scriptwriting, directing, animation, and the techniques used in capturing motion and objects on camera.

Parents emphasize the importance of allowing children to explore and develop their Gifted Brains. Many mothers choose Promil because it helps support four key brain developmental milestones, along with proper diet, daily activities, and rest.

Back in the Gifted Workroom

Their animated film was beginning to take shape, and the next stage involved was adding sound. Inside the recording studio of the Gifted Workroom, the children discovered everyday items - pepper and salt shakers, utensils, and umbrellas - used to create sound effects. In filmmaking, this process is called Foley.

Gifted mom Georgina Wilson shared, "Foley is sound effects that are recreated for movies. What an exceptional activity for Gifted Kids."

The children spent the day as Foley artists, experimenting with props to produce sounds for their film. They stomped their feet to mimic running, chopped vegetables to imitate moving rocks, and tested a variety of other noises. It appeared to be a play, yet each moment was a lesson in how sound breathes life into a story and makes every scene more vivid.

The next step was giving the characters their voices. The children met with Rhys Austin, a professional voice actor with more than 200 commercials to his name, who demonstrated how to bring animated characters to life. Austin shared tips on using tone, emotion, and clarity to create engaging and expressive performances. The session proved both enjoyable and educational for the young creators.

Role of mothers in nurturing Gifted Kids

While the Gifted Kids filmed, their mothers reflected on the moments they first recognized their kids' unique abilities and discussed how they nurture those gifts. Each mother also encouraged other parents to remain present and give children the freedom to explore.

"I realized that Maddie is exceptional when she started drawing smileys at one year old," shared Klarizz de Leon.

"Tili is very good at sorting. Everything is organized by colors, shapes, or boxes. She recognized this pattern at a very young age," noted Solenn Heussaff-Bolzico.

"Alfie loves creating stories, which can be seen in the animated film," added Georgina Wilson-Burnand.

"When I taught Javi something once, he was able to remember it completely," said Eunice Perez-Trajano.

The mothers also shared how they continue to support their children's growth. Wilson-Burnand feels fortunate to be a mom. "All the kids are gifted, and it is our responsibility to bring out those gifts and celebrate their milestones."

For Perez-Trajano it is important to nurture Gifted Kids, while De Leon encouraged parents to give their kids freedom to create.
