From her fundraisers to her brand collaborations, Catriona Gray continues to leave a positive impact wherever she goes.
Her 2024 sustainable design project, the Enviro-Chic Bags, was recently recognized in the Asia Pacific Stevie Awards.
It received a Gold Stevie Award for Innovation in Cause-related Videos, a Silver Stevie Award for Innovation in Entertainment Events, and a Bronze Stevie Award for Innovation in Reuse and Recycle.
On Instagram Stories, Gray said she is proud of the success of the initiative as she shared a photo of her with the awards, which are currently on display at Uptown Bonifacio Mall in Taguig.
The Enviro-Chic Bags were a result of Gray's collaboration with Side B Upcycling Retail Inc. and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls. The limited-edition bags were made using repurposed tarpaulins, making them durable enough to carry everyday essentials and other items.
In a previous interview with ABS-CBN News, Gray said she did the sketches for the bag designs in a few days. "Pero I guess 'yung collaborative process of like discussing on how to best utilize the tarps... that process took a few months," she said.
"Being creative and giving back to the community, I feel like it's a thread that really runs through lahat ng projects na ginawa ko ever since," she added.
The public first saw a glimpse of Gray's creativity during her Miss Universe 2018 campaign, where she showcased Filipino values and culture through her videos, as well as her choice of gowns and accessories.
She has been serving as an arts ambassador for the National Commission for Culture and the Arts for the sixth consecutive year.
Just recently, Gray visited Davao to shine a spotlight on the traditional garments of the Bagobo Tagabawa indigenous community.
