For nine unforgettable years—from 2011 to 2020— “Gandang Gabi Vice” (GGV) kept audiences entertained as its illustrious host, Vice Ganda, turned her every interview with some of the popular personalities in showbiz, news, politics, sports, and the internet into fun, candid, and sometimes heart-warming conversations.
And to spice things up in every episode, the country’s Phenomenal Unkabogable Superstar and the team behind the Sunday late-night talk show came up with various challenges that guests had no choice but to take on. Among those is the crowd-favorite game “Sagot o Lagot,” wherein guests were given the freedom to choose their fate—either to answer the controversial questions that might put them on the headlines the next day or to accept the silly punishments in exchange for their silence.
As we look forward to seeing if they’re going to revive the well-loved game in the much-awaited return of GGV, let’s revisit some of the most memorable moments from this segment that truly brought us immense laughter and surprising revelations in this special feature!
Let us start with the celebrities who were either very courageous and confident to tell the truth about Vice’s questions or too afraid to carry out the consequences as they opted to go for “SAGOT.”
Known for being straightforward, Arci Muñoz didn’t hold back when she revealed that her breakup with her ex-boyfriend was due to his alleged “side chicks.” Despite their split, the “Coco Martin’s Sigabo” star disclosed that she has become friends with him and his wife. However, she no longer had his number nor follows him on social media.
Another local showbiz personality known for her frankness is Annabelle Rama, who dodged a dare to give away a piece of her jewelry by instead exposing her daughter, Ruffa Gutierrez. Asked about the worst thing Ruffa had ever done to her, Annabelle revealed that it was whenever her daughter ignored her advice about love, noting that Ruffa tends to pick the wrong guys.
Ruffa also bravely chose to respond to Vice’s question on who among Kapamilya heartthrobs James Reid, Enrique Gil, and Daniel Padilla she most likely date would. Since Daniel is her godson to her best friend Karla Estrada, she immediately ruled him out and eventually picked James over Enrique, mainly because she’s into guys with a fair complexion and a “bad boy” aura.
Ina Raymundo was also asked the same question, but her choices were seasoned comedians Bayani Agbayani, Long Mejia, and Jobert Austria. Of the three, she picked Bayani as the one she would most likely choose to be the father of her children if she were single. Aside from knowing him personally from their stint in the sitcom “Home Sweetie Home,” Ina admired Bayani for being such a funny guy and a devoted husband to his longtime non-showbiz wife, Lenlen.
However, it wasn’t only the guests who got to play the game, but Vice herself as well! Not wanting to accept Donny Pangilinan and Robi Domingo’s dare for her to take a picture of her armpit and post it on Instagram, Vice rather revealed that the last celebrity who made her feel jealous at the time was Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. Vice explained that it was after she saw photos of the beauty queen with her now-husband, Ion Perez, all over social media, prompting her to ask him.
While these celebrities were brave and bold to spill the beans, there were some who accepted the consequences of dodging the host’s intriguing questions—or “LAGOT.”
Since she didn’t name any celebrities whom she dislikes, Ruffa was dared by the Unkabogable Host to prank her mom, Annabelle, by calling and telling her, “Ma, I have a problem. I think he’s cheating on me.” Funnily, Annabelle indeed fell for it and even mentioned the first name of Ruffa’s boyfriend at the time as she berated her. She cursed Ruffa once more when she revealed that it was only a prank and she was on “GGV.”
Despite responding to Vice’s question about a time he had cheated on his now-wife Mika Dela Cruz, the host was apparently not satisfied with his answer, so she dared him to text her, “I THINK IT’S OVER. The “Goin’ Bulilit” alumnus got really anxious as they waited for her reply, only to receive hilarious messages from Mika, who apparently assumed that he was referring to the Taal Volcano eruption at the time.
Although she admitted to having had a few romantic affairs with celebrity guys prior to marrying her longtime non-showbiz husband, Ina confidently disclosed that she never had a one-night stand. As Vice asked her instead to name a male celebrity with whom she had a thing with, Ina simply chose “lagot” and reenacted a scene from “Kadenang Ginto” with comedians Petite and Negi.
After bravely answering to some questions, Arci was then compelled to take on the challenge of eating fried super worms as she refused to namedrop the celebrity she got to work with who had a terrible body odor. But she didn’t do it alone as Vice gamely joined her as well.
Hashtags members Kid Yambao and McCoy de Leon likewise had to face a consequence after failing to name the “It’s Showtime” host they liked the least. Thus, they had to do the dare of dancing to Sarah Geronimo’s viral hit “Tala” with their pants down.
Lastly, Donny opted to endure the painful consequence of having his hairy left leg waxed after refusing to reveal the celebrity whose photos he tended to zoom in on whenever she posted sexy pictures.
