Six years ago, late nights weren’t complete without “Gandang Gabi, Vice!” On top of Vice Ganda’s entertaining banter and skits with her special guests, Kapamilyas definitely tuned in every week to enjoy the rarer, more humorous, and deeply personal side of many public personalities.
With “GGV” finally making its much-awaited return this September 13, let’s revisit some of Vice’s best-known teleserye spoofs that perfectly highlighted her “unkabogable” acting skills and creativity!
#1: Vice tries to face Monica’s wrath in “The Legal Wife”
Instead of Maja Salvador as Nicole Esquivel in “The Legal Wife,” Vice momentarily took on the iconic role, eventually dealing with the unstoppable rage of Monica Santiago (Angel Locsin). While the original version showed Monica’s agony as she demanded that Nicole reveal her sins to their father figure, Dante Ramos (Mark Gil), Vice actually made the “wife versus mistress” plot less serious by answering Monica’s questions with flirty remarks.
#2: Vice transforms “Bridges of Love” to “Bread-ges of Love”
Another Maja Salvador impersonation from Vice was her version of Mia Sandoval in the “Bridges of Love.” Vice amusingly altered the heart-fluttering scene where Carlos Antonio (Paulo Avelino) came up with ideas for his terms of endearment with Mia. Instead of a completely romantic experience, Vice transformed it into a bread taste test—sampling everything from pandesal to pan de coco until she almost choked trying to find the perfect match.
#3: Vice gets embraced by Ian Veneracion in the “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” parody
For the 2015 remake of “Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” Vice readily embodied Amor (Jodi Sta. Maria), particularly during the famous scene where she and Eduardo (Ian Veneracion) got trapped inside an elevator. After Eduardo called for help, he attempted to calm down the claustrophobic Amor by singing the children’s folk song “Tong Tong Tong Pakitong-kitong.” Vice (as Amor) then sang along with her signature flirty voice, surprisingly switched to Sia’s “Chandelier,” and threw shocked expressions at Eduardo.
#4: Vice hilariously references “Street Fighter” in “Pasión de Amor”
In the parody of “Pasión de Amor,” Vice appeared to be a personal bodyguard for Don Bernardo Elizondo (Ronaldo Valdez), a wealthy haciendero having a secret affair with the young Lyvia Samonte (Ingrid dela Paz). When Lyvia’s older brother, Juan (Jake Cuenca), discovered the affair, he immediately picked a fight with the old man. As soon as Bernardo pointed to Vice as the one who could take down Juan, Vice initially refused the order but eventually assumed her fighting stance, comically yelling “Hadouken!”
#5: Vice mimics Nathaniel’s feathery wings in pageant-like fashion
When the young angel Nathaniel (Marco Masa) flew down from heaven to fulfill his mission on Earth, he landed right in front of Vice, who mistook him for a chicken. Fascinated by Nathaniel’s breathtaking feathery wings, Vice pulled off her own instant transformation, rocking a feathery costume worthy of the “Miss Universe” or “Binibining Pilipinas” runway.
#6: Vice enjoys breakfast with James Reid and Albie Casiño for “OTWOL”
Speaking about the playful version of “On The Wings Of Love,” Vice stepped into Leah Olivar’s (Nadine Lustre) shoes, specifically recreating the scene with Clark Medina (James Reid) and Jigs Fausto (Albie Casiño). As both men flexed their muscular physiques, Vice made herself comfortable on the couch, grabbing a meal to admire the view.
#7: Vice’s mouthwash routine goes completely wrong in “Tubig at Bangis”
The intense drama “Tubig at Langis” evolved into “Tubig at Bangis” with Vice’s portrayal of Lucy (Dionne Monsanto), the sister of Natoy (Zanjoe Marudo). The fierce energy of the spoof actually came from Irene (Cristine Reyes), who confronted Lucy for being mean-spirited to her and her son. While the original Lucy talked back before becoming frightened, Vice added a comedic twist by continuously gargling mouthwash even though Irene grabbed her by the throat.
#8: Vice takes over “Be My Lady” with G-Force dancers and “May Tatlong Bibe”
The charming moment of “Be My Lady’s” Phil (Daniel Matsunaga) trying to make Pinang (Erich Gonzales) happy with his spontaneous performance of “May Tatlong Bibe” was made even more entertaining by Vice. First presenting herself as the demure Pinang, Vice then suddenly brought in two G-Force performers to dance the remixed version with her.
#9: VICE GANDub reimagines “La Luna Sangre” as “La Luna Girl Na!”
Another segment of “GGV” was the VICE GANDub, especially for the fantasy series “La Luna Sangre.” In the scene where Lia (Angel Locsin) woke up surrounded by Mateo (John Lloyd Cruz) and the villagers, Vice gave the clip a whole new narrative—giving Lia a deep male voice while celebrating her transition into a woman. Mateo is equally delighted by the news, ending the moment with his own desire to undergo an operation.
#10: VICE GANDub seeks John Lloyd Cruz for “La Luna Ganda”
“La Luna Sangre” got another funny twist from Vice, who tweaked Baristo’s (Joross Gamboa) reunion with Lia and Mateo, long after they gave up their powers as a vampire and a werewolf. While the original conversation focused on Baristo urging them to reclaim their leadership, Vice completely reconstructed the story, even referencing the real actors. In her version, Joross pitched a new project to John Lloyd, acting as a middleman for Vice’s interest in partnering with him. John Lloyd ultimately refused the offer, joking that he’ll make Joross Vice’s love team instead.
Sunday nights will be absolutely fun again in the newest season of “Gandang Gabi, Vice!,” streaming on iWant beginning on September 13.
