Billy (Kathryn Bernardo) readily handles the task of one of her employees assigned to respond to the calls on LoveLine. She ends up having a conversation with LoveList member Melissa, who’s having second thoughts concerning her upcoming wedding.
During the call, Melissa clarifies that she genuinely loves her partner Theo but struggles with the reality of her father’s disapproval. In spite of Theo working hard, Melissa’s father views him as a failure, particularly when it comes to his job as a cook.
Billy then acknowledges Melissa’s pain, pointing out that her father might not be properly conveying his intentions of just protecting Melissa. According to Billy, love can also appear as control, though Melissa’s feelings whenever she’s with Theo are of greater importance.
Melissa confirms that she truly feels safe, supported, and seen by Theo. Offering more advice, Billy emphasizes that the life Melissa and Theo are building isn’t defined by mere job titles or money, but instead by how they treat one another.
When Melissa asks what might happen if her father still refuses to accept Theo, Billy agrees that it would be scary, but in the end, Melissa’s happiness matters the most, especially the marriage.
While Melissa ought to follow her heart, Theo must continue proving himself, as marriage isn’t simply about two people being in love; it’s also a union of families.
