In his seven years in the entertainment industry, Anthony Jennings has become known for portraying characters who are not just irresistibly charming but also possess an impeccable sense of humor. However, his role in the iWant Original supernatural workplace comedy series "Nurse The Dead" is definitely an exception, as he takes on the ominous role of Grim Reaper.
While he's undeniably entertaining on screen, it appears he's just as lovable behind the scenes, as he's apparently adored by his colleagues—as seen in the "behind-the-shift" photos of him captured on the set of "Nurse the Dead."
Anthony clearly had a blast filming the series and built genuine camaraderie with both the Filipino and American cast and crew. He could be seen embracing Gigette Reyes and Jelynn Malone, with whom he's probably the closest as the three of them would share plenty of scenes together. Another photo captures their castmate Ruby Rodriguez playfully hugging him from behind, as they shared a lighthearted moment while preparing for a scene in Episode 2.
Just on the pilot episode of the series released on June 12—yes, in line with the 128th Philippine Independence Day celebration this year—Anthony immediately made a couple of appearances. He initially appeared as an unnamed scaredy and nerdy rookie nurse working alongside lead character Noa Reyes, a highly motivated, hardworking, and cheerful Filipina nurse supervisor played by Filipina-American actress Jelynn Malone, who immediately resigned after a personal horrifying experience with one of the ghosts at the notoriously haunted Ward 5.
As viewers probably wondered what could have happened to his character or whether he would return or not, the promising actor made a shocking come back in the last body of episode 1 not as a nurse but as the dreaded Grim Reaper. He came to fetch Noa's mom, Tess (Gigette Reyes), who was revealed to be already dead! Through a flashback, it was learned that Tess had once served as a nurse in the same hospital and ward where she later lost her life during the pandemic.
However, since she still found it hard to crossover to the afterlife due to her deep love for her beloved one and only daughter—who’s unwilling to let her go as well—Tess stubbornly refused to go with him. She bluntly ordered him to leave and relay to Saint Peter that she still had to "work overtime" here on Earth.
Though amused, Grim Reaper remained firm and warned Tess that he would make things difficult for Noa if she continued resisting. Ever the protective mother, Tess fired back with a stern warning of her own, telling Grim that he would surely face her wrath if he tried to harm her beloved daughter.
Will Grim Reaper succeed in completing his mission despite Tess' unwavering refusal to cross over? Or is witnessing the unconditional love between the mother and daughter going to soften his heart?
