If you've been on TikTok at any point this year, you've heard him. That woozy, lovesick hook. That soft, half-mumbled voice. Now the guy behind it is finally coming to the Philippines.
Malcolm Todd performs at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City on November 27 as part of the Asia leg of his ongoing "Do That Again" World Tour, promoted by Live Nation. The Asia run opens in Taipei on November 23 and passes through Tokyo before the Manila date, then continues to Singapore on November 30 and wraps up in Kuala Lumpur on December 9.
For a lot of Filipino listeners, though, the name still doesn't match the sound. Here's what you need to know.
1. He's barely out of his early twenties, and he started in his bedroom
Todd – full name Malcolm Todd Hobert – turns 23 on September 15. He is a Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and producer who began writing and recording on his own while still in high school. His first EP, Demos Before Prom, came out in May 2022. The title was not a joke.
His 2023 songs "Art House" and "Roommates" went viral on TikTok, which got him signed to Columbia Records. Both ended up on his 2024 debut mixtape Sweet Boy. His self-titled debut album followed in April 2025 and peaked at No. 49 on the Billboard 200. He also spent part of 2024 opening for Omar Apollo on the North American leg of the God Said No World Tour, which is usually where an artist either sinks or learns how to hold a room. Todd learned.
2. "Earrings" is the song you actually know – and it's two years old
Here's the strange part. "Earrings" came out in April 2024 as the opening track of Sweet Boy. Nothing happened. Then, almost two years later, it blew up on TikTok, entered the Billboard Hot 100 in March 2026, and Columbia finally pushed it to US radio that April.
It went on to peak at No. 20, his highest-charting song to date, and is now certified Platinum in the US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. So if you discovered him through "Earrings," you weren't late. Almost everyone was.
3. "Chest Pain (I Love)" got a whole second life
Released in December 2024, "Chest Pain (I Love)" was Todd's first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 68. It's also Platinum-certified and has passed 300 million streams.
Then Don Toliver sampled it for "E85," the opening track of his album OCTANE, and Todd's voice ended up playing in rooms it had never reached before. On June 1 this year, Toliver brought him out at a sold-out Madison Square Garden show in New York to perform it live — the sample and the source, standing on the same stage.
4. His new album is the biggest thing he's done
"Do That Again," his second album, dropped on June 5 via Columbia Records. It debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with 67,000 equivalent album units, his first top 10. All 13 tracks landed on the US Spotify Chart in the same week, and the album has since passed 277 million global streams.
Rolling Stone gave it four stars, calling Todd a rising star with a sweet, lilting voice and a knack for intimate popcraft. He now has more than 39 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
5. He's not just a streaming artist anymore
Todd made his debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon the night before the album came out, performing "I Saw Your Face" live for the first time along with "Earrings." He's also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, played Camp Flog Gnaw in 2025, and returned to the festival circuit this year with a set at Outside Lands in San Francisco.
In August, he starred with actress Inde Navarrette in Gap's Fall 2026 "Denim on your own" campaign, singing his own stripped-back take on Robyn's "Dancing on My Own."
Musically, he sits somewhere between old-school songwriting and modern R&B – a bit of Paul Simon's storytelling, a bit of Prince's restraint, filtered through someone who grew up online.
Filipinos got here early
This part isn't new to anyone who's been following him locally. "Earrings" has spent 20 weeks on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 and peaked at No. 11, and both it and "Chest Pain (I Love)" have been all over Filipino TikTok for months.
So when Todd finally plays Manila, it won't be an introduction. It'll be a reunion with people who found him first.
