Ramona, the musical alter ego of actress Andrea Brillantes, has released a new single that takes an unconventional approach to a breakup song.
While most breakup songs lean toward a mellow mood, Ramona's latest release “Laguna,” unveiled last May 29, instead delivers an angsty pop-punk sound.
Rather than dwelling on heartbreak and sadness, the track "chooses to fight back," according to a press release.
Its confrontational lyrics portray the persona growing suspicious of a former flame who appears to have moved on unusually quickly.
The song "taps into the hyper-online generation’s obsession with decoding modern relationships and post-breakup behavior."
"Laguna" is Ramona's latest offering, following her debut single "Gaga," which peaked at No. 60 on the Spotify Viral charts and garnered over 300,000 TikTok creations.
