Lionsgate has released a new trailer for the highly anticipated The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Set 24 years before the events of the original The Hunger Games, the upcoming film follows 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, as he is selected to compete in the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.
This edition of the Games will feature twice the usual number of competitors, with 48 tributes fighting for survival.
"Twice the number of tributes, twice the glory," Drusilla Sickle, portrayed by Glenn Close, declares in the trailer.
The new preview shows Haymitch preparing to enter the deadly arena while also teasing his growing defiance against the Capitol.
"Witness the beginning of the revolution," the trailer says.
The trailer also gives viewers a glimpse of Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Ralph Fiennes as President Coriolanus Snow, Elle Fanning as a young Effie Trinket, Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, and Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee.
Maya Hawke, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Mckenna Grace, and Glenn Close are also part of the ensemble cast.
Fans online were quick to share their excitement over the new trailer.
"This is almost exactly as I saw it all in my head while reading, incredible," one fan commented.
"The Hunger Games franchise is just so legendary!" another fan wrote.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, lead star Joseph revealed that he incorporated certain qualities from Woody Harrelson’s portrayal of Haymitch Abernathy in the original Hunger Games films into his own performance.
“There’s a few things such as Haymitch’s morals, air of sarcasm, and the idea that he is intelligent and usually a step ahead,” he shared.
The actor also highlighted how the upcoming film raises the stakes for the character, with Haymitch facing a more dangerous version of the Games and having far fewer allies around him.

“There are double the tributes and more to overcome for our protagonist with less support. Haymitch is starting a rebellion that Katniss joins 24 years later and when he’s starting it, he only has a few people on his side and the world to conquer,” he relayed.
Sunrise on the Reaping is based on Suzanne Collins's 2025 novel of the same name and is directed by Francis Lawrence, who previously helmed several installments in the Hunger Games franchise.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set to hit theaters on November 20.
