Despite hit projects and major acting awards under his belt, JM De Guzman admits he still feels pressured with every role he takes on.
In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, the actor opened up about the challenges of portraying his newest character in the film Lasting Moments.
“Kinakabahan pa rin ako kahit taping. ‘Yung mga heavy scenes (challenging) pero hindi naman sobrang nahirapan kasi si Sue (Ramirez) ang ka-eksena ko and she’s a very mapagbigay na actress,” he revealed.
JM also shared how he prepared for the dramatic role of Aki, a former professor navigating personal struggles while in a relationship with Sue’s character, Pia.
“Research. Binigyan naman kami ng mga material ng director plus reading the script nang paulit-ulit,” he shared.
The award-winning actor also expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support their movie has received, saying it inspires him to keep giving his all in every role.
“I'm happy and grateful kasi alam naman natin lahat na mahirap ngayon ang sitwasyon ng pelikulang Pilipino. And masaya ako na isa kami sa mga pelikula na tumagal,” he expressed.
Meanwhile, JM also elaborated on why Sue is his favorite leading lady — a revelation he first shared on the Cinema One talk show The B Side with Bianca Gonzalez.
“Ayan, kalog,” he said with a smile, pointing at Sue during the special screening. He continued: “Mas magaan lang kasama, parang tropa mo.”
Through the movie, JM also shared the one takeaway he gained from working on the project.
“Pahalagaan bawat moment na kasama mo ‘yung mga mahal mo sa buhay. ‘Di natin alam kung kailan mawawala yon,” he shared.
