MANILA — Angeline Quinto is preparing several firsts as she celebrates 15 years in show business with her anniversary concert “AQUINSE,” including an unexpected collaboration with rapper Skusta Clee and a possible venture into drag.
Speaking on “Oh My Gan!,” Quinto said she personally requested several production numbers for the concert that initially made members of her team think twice.
“Ang dami ko kasing ni-request na mga production numbers dito na parang ayaw nila,” she said in jest.
Quinto explained that some of the numbers will feature things she has never done before, along with artists she has long wanted to work with.
“May mga numbers kasi dito na halos first time kong magagawa. At mga artists din, mga singers, na first time kong makaka-collab,” she said.
Among those joining her are longtime singing partner Erik Santos and the Divine Divas.
Quinto also teased a possible drag performance after revealing her admiration for drag artists and the local drag scene.
“Marami akong kaibigan talaga na mahal ang pagda-drag. So dahil gusto kong mag-drag!” she joked.
Asked whether she would actually do drag during the show, Quinto initially played coy before saying she was open to trying it.
“Titignan natin kung magda-drag ako. Pero I’m sure… gagawin natin 'yun kasi nga first time. Siyempre wala namang masama kung susubukan ko,” she said.
Quinto also revealed that Viñas Deluxe is among the drag artists expected to be part of the concert.
But one of the biggest surprises will be her collaboration with Skusta Clee.
The singer said she personally reached out to the rapper through Instagram despite being unsure whether he would be available.
“Parang suntok sa buwan talaga nung nag-send ako ng message sa kanya sa Instagram,” she recalled. “Sabi ko nga sa sarili ko, kung hindi talaga kaya, okay lang. Pero what if pwede naman sa schedule niya? So nag-try talaga ako.”
Quinto said working with Skusta Clee had long been on her bucket list, but she wanted their first collaboration to happen during an important milestone.
“Gusto ko pag nag-collab kaming dalawa, malaking celebration. So ito na 'yung tamang time, 'yung 15th anniversary,” she said.
Quinto shared that she has long been a fan of rap music, naming Andrew E., Gloc-9 and the late Francis Magalona among the artists she admired growing up.
She also listens to the music of Skusta Clee and Flow G, adding that husband Nonrev Daquina is likewise a fan.
The “Star Power” winner said “AQUINSE” serves as her way of thanking those who have supported her since she entered the industry 15 years ago.
“Napakagandang selebrasyon po nito dahil ito po talaga ang gusto kong pasasalamat para sa lahat ng mga taong sumusuporta sa akin simula noon hanggang ngayon,” Quinto said. “Hindi ko inasahan na aabot ako dito.”
“AQUINSE: Angeline Quinto 15th Anniversary Concert” will be held on August 22 at the Araneta Coliseum.
Quinto promised fans a night filled with surprises, music and collaborations marking the different chapters of her career.
“Napakarami po naming inihahandang sorpresa at magagandang awitin at musika para sa inyo sa gabing ’yan,” she said.
